Grace Academy Now Vandal Proof

Grace Academy is a flagship 11-19 all-ability Academy serving the community in Chelmsley Wood, Birmingham. It is an exciting multi-million pound school with outstanding buildings and state of the art learning facilities.

The impressive main building favoured large areas of glass on all elevations to allow a light and open ambience, but this proved too much of a temptation to local vandals who fired projectiles suspected to be stones, air rifles and BB guns at night and during weekends, shattering the large glass panes and costing literally thousands of pounds worth of damage in regular replacement.

Providing complete protection from the incoming missiles, Vandal Shield successfully protects the expensive glazing without altering the external appearance of the building. The discreet frame system attaches directly to the window structure, and is powder coated in matching grey. The perforated mesh merely darkens the external appearance a little, as the existing windows were
already tinted, there was no discernable change after installation.

The most striking feature of the installation was from inside, where the largest elevation of glass from the main atrium serving the library was unaffected by the installation, it being virtually impossible to detect that the windows were protected by Vandal Shield!
